If you look back at the beginning of the Internet you notice that it has changed a lot since then. Back in the days single users provided the bulk of the information with little to no option to interact with those information. Feedback or comments were usually submitted by email or in web forums but never directly on the page the information was presented on.

Then entered modern computers and fast internet connections. Social Networking sites arose which allowed users to directly comment to each other, send pictures, videos and messages. This eliminated the need for each user to learn massive amounts of coding simply to create a basic webpage. Despite the variety of modern social networking sites offered, very few have managed to capture such a broad audience as Facebook.

New Facebook users create a profile about themselves. They can be found by other Facebook users who search for the name or other information. It is also possible to ask other users to be your friend at Facebook which will display their status updates, messages and pictures on your Facebook homepage. This is an straightforward and fast way to be up to date with latest happenings and events in the life of other Facebook users.

On Facebook you can change how people can search from you - even changing the settings so that no one could find you, which is the most secure way to prevent those who you do not wish to see your Facebook from seeing it. Of course, this still allows you to search for others yourself. There are various other security settings that make Facebook one of the most safe social networking sites.

While the main benefit is the ease which you can post pictures and text, one of the more exciting features of Facebook is the ability to play various games on the site, and even battle against your friends for the high score. You can invite friends to play games with you, and even message them that you’ve beaten their score! It makes it easy for a group of friends to have fun competing against each other in a variety of games ranging from Tetris, to Scrabble and many more.

Another popular activity on Facebook are the quizzes. Many of these contain subjects that no sane being would answer. This includes questions about which of the seven dwarfs the user is or the political party that most suits the user. Quizzes are made by users which explains their popularity and sheer mass on the website. Results can again be shared with friends who can also be invited to take the quit so that results can be compared in the end.

The social network quickly grew beyond that and is now used by every population group from grandparents to teenagers.

Facebook offers a great way for everyone to stay in touch with friends and relatives. It is also a place to meet new friends and share photos, videos and messages with each other.
