Tips On How To Transfer Data From One Xbox 360 Hard DriveTo Another

This article describes how to transfer the hard drive for xbox 360 using the Drive Transfer Kit to transfer all content from one hard drive to another

You will need :

An Xbox 360 console

Two Xbox 360 hard drives

Data transfer cable (included with the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Kit)

This may be bundled when you buy the Xbox 360 Hard Drive

Data transfer software (included with the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Kit)

The Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Kit transfers all content to another hard drive. Read the users guide which you get with the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Kit.

You are able to transfer all content from one Xbox 360 hard drive (this is known as the “source”) to another Xbox 360 hard drive (this is known as the “destination”). The data from the source hard drive overwrites the content on the destination hard drive.

Naturally content can only be moved to another hard drive as long as the destination hard drive is the same size or larger than the source hard drive

When the transfer is complete, the content on the destination hard drive will be replaced with the content from the source hard drive. This data includes your saved games and Xbox LIVE downloads. When the transfer is finished, the content on the source hard disk is erased.

Movie rentals

Films you have rented on the source hard drive will not be available after the transfer. Ensure that you watch all Xbox LIVE Marketplace movie rentals before you use the Hard Drive Transfer Kit.

Using the Hard Drive Transfer Kit

Warning with any transfer, there is a slight risk that some or all your content may be lost during the process.

Only one hard drive can be connected to your Xbox 360 console at a time. The transfer cable can’t be used to connect multiple hard drives to your console at the same time.

To transfer all content from one hard drive to another

Switch off your Xbox 360 console with your current hard drive (the “source” drive) attached.

Disconnect all accessories from the console.

Turn on the console. Connect a controller and switch it on. You have got to use a controller during the content transfer.

Connect the transfer cable to the hard drive that you are moving content to (the “destination” hard drive).

Important The transfer cable connects to the destination hard drive in only one orientation. Don’t force the connector on.

Connect the transfer cable to the destination hard drive in the orientation shown below.

Plug the other end of the transfer cable into the USB port on the back of your Xbox 360 console.

Important Do not plug the transfer cable into a USB port on the front of your Xbox 360 console.

Load the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Disc (included with the transfer kit) into your Xbox 360 console. Instructions will appear on the screen

The transfer process can take more than 60 minutes, depending on the amount of content on the source hard drive.

The Xbox Dashboard is not available during the content transfer.

If the transfer is interrupted for any reason, your content will remain on the source hard drive. You may restart the transfer process anytime until the process is complete.

The Types Of Printers Available

Due to the vast choices available in the printers market it is easy to find the right one for you. Every model claims to do the best job for this or fastest at that, it is easy to get confused. To assist with this confusion I will briefly explain the types of printers available and what to look for in each.

The Laser printer is an expensive device as the technology in it is state of the art. A laser imprints the image of the document to be printed onto a drum by negatively charging the surface of the parts of the page to printed. Charged ink particles are then spread onto the drum and the charged parts of the drum hold the ink particles to it whilst the others fall off. The drum is then heated and the paper is fed through whilst being pressed against the drum. The ink particles then melt onto the page resulting in the printed image.

This technique ensures that the machine can quickly print documents regardless of the amount of ink used and also ensures that the quality of the print is high. The benefit of the image being projected onto the rotating drum means that the speed at which the document is printed is also quicker than that of the Deskjet.

Each pixel of an image is printed on its own in a deskjet. This technology is much cheaper than the laser and the replacement parts of the printer are also cheaper to fit.

Despite this extended time frame, deskjet’s have become the choice of the home consumer. They provide affordable printing and produce good results. The cost of the printer itself is much cheaper than that of the laser whilst replacement cartridges are also a fraction of the price. Laser printers are more efficient but for the amount of home printing performed this does not represent value for money.

Within the past few years deskjet printers have been combined with scanners and faxes to produce a machine that can perform most photo processing functions. The benefit of these models is that they reduce the cost required to obtain all three functions whilst reducing the space required as well.

When choosing your printer you should consider the amount of documents you produce, whether they are in color or black and white, and if you require the option to scan or fax items. Before you buy the printer of your choosing you should ensure the replacement cartridges are reasonably priced as many low price printers can charge a lot for their replacement cartridges.

Setting Up Custom Desktop PCs

In this day and age, computers are outdated before you’ve even bought them. To help prolong the lifespan of desktop PCs, more and more users are turning to custom building their rigs. It takes a little more time and research, but it can save you money and it can guarantee a better deal overall.

You can avoid having to replace the whole thing if you keep updating it and upgrading it until the end of time, to the point where you’re not even, really, using any of the original parts anymore, but unless you’re a total computer geek, sooner or later you’re going to get behind on your updates and it’ll be easier, and sometimes cheaper, to just replace the whole thing altogether.

You’ll want to do your own research to make sure your new PC is perfect for you, but here’s what you should know about minimum requirements to get started designing your own PC…

How much RAM do you need?

RAM is basically your computer’s short term memory. Everything your computer’s doing right now is being stored in RAM. As much of this stuff as possible is your best bet. If you’re doing something media intensive like video editing, sound editing, graphic design or gaming, you’ll want to prioritize this part of your computer. As a bare minimum, though, a desktop can’t really do much without at least 128MB. You can squeeze by with less, but 128MB should run any basic stuff. For serious gamers and media types, don’t settle for less than 256MB.

Hard Drive

How much Hard Drive do you really need? Well, you’ll probably want to start at forty gigs. From there, it depends on what you’re doing. If you’re a writer, forty gigs is more than enough. If you’re a gamer or a multimedia type, start at eighty. This way you won’t have to worry about deleting old projects and games to make room for new ones.

Graphics cards

These are the toughest to keep up with. By the time your computer arrives, there’ll already be a game on the market that needs a better card than even exists today to run at top quality. So worry about that when the time comes and just get something that works for today. Obviously, for gaming and media, you want top of the line, something like the NVIDIA GeForce series for gaming, or Quadro for digital media. For everyone else, just go with something basic and cheap. If you’re not running high end graphics, make and model isn’t really too important.

A Desktop PCs Can Include Every Feature You Want

Have you been dreaming of a new desktop pcs with all the features you want and more? Make a list of what’s indispensable before heading out to the stores. Know exactly what you’ll be using it for and what software you want.

Most new computers include a one year warranty. An extended warranty for two or three year coverage might cost up to $200. Ask what it covers, such as in home repair, all parts or online technical advice. It may be worth the money if you are an inexperienced pc owner.

When you add memory capacity, ram and additional software that is factory installed, it saves you money. Decide on ordering extra ram or hard drive space at the time of purchase. You may be disappointed later on if you need more storage capacity than you order.

will you be using the pc for running a home business? Then you will want to upgrade to the professional level Microsoft Office Small Business Edition. You can find a bargain if you will be using it for email, browsing and making family photo albums. Should you be a gamer, dig deep for a quad processor and all the other high end features required at a much higher cost.

One convenience you may not think of is usb ports on the front of the computer for easy access. Also, make sure there are as many or more than you need. Choose a hard drive that will allow you to perform functions you want, such as burning Blu-ray discs and viewing HD videos.

Select a motherboard with an open graphics slot in addition to the ones installed at the factory. A dual core processor is adequate unless you are a gamer. Then you will be interested in a quad system. The price for such a system is considerably higher.

After shopping around you may find the perfect desktop pc for your needs. If all the features you plan to buy are included, you could be tempted to wait for it to go on sale. It isn’t a good idea to do so if there is a possibility of it selling out before going on sale.

The Desktop PC And How It Works

Without the Desktop PC the world would be a totally different place, it allows fast communication and increased ease at which to work. A PC contains many components and I will explain a few of the key ones although other components will be needed to complete a fully working PC.

The Processor is the brains of the PC, it completes the tasks that the user asks the PC to complete. Three attributes determine the overall speed of the processor these are the operating speed, the front side bus and the cache. The operating speed is the speed at which the processor can complete a task.

The other factors that determine how quickly the processor runs are the front side bus and the cache. The front side bus is measured again in Hz and determines how quickly the processor is able to communicate with the other components within the PC. The cache determines how many tasks the processor can perform at once, the larger the cache the faster the processor will run.

Random access memory is one of the best and affordable ways to improve the speed of your PC. You can think of random access memory as being the same as a large desk, the more room you have on the desk the more you can place on it meaning that things are quicker to hand than they would be if they were in a desk draw for example.

The hard drive is the storage device of the PC this is where all your documents, programs and the operating system are stored. Hard drives have capacity measured in bytes, the typical size of hard drive these days is being 500Gb and 1Tb.

In addition to the three components mentioned above, a desktop PC will also require a motherboard, a graphics and if you desire sound a sound card. An operating system will also be required to interact with the PC. Before buying the motherboard and processor you should check that they are compatible with the operating system you wish to use.

What Is The Difference Between All The Hard Drives?

Computers are a very popular item nowadays and nearly everyone has a computer. When you buy a computer it comes with everything you need, but sometimes that is not enough. For this reason, many people purchase extra parts, such as new internal or external hard drives.

A hard drive is considered the storage space of a computer. All computers come with a storage drive built in and each drive has a different capacity. This drive is where you will store all of your computer’s data, like software programs, documents, and sound files.

The capacity of a hard drive is measured with bytes. Most storage drives are able to store a number of gigabytes worth of information. If your drive has more bytes, that means you have more space.

Some people need to replace the internal hard disk drive of a computer because it breaks. Other people replace them because they are unhappy with the drive due to its speed or lack of space. Before replacing a drive, you should make sure that all of its data is backed up. The data can be stored on another hard disk drive beforehand or on CDs or DVDs.

It is always smart to purchase an external hard disk drive. These are easy to use and will communicate with a computer via FireWire or USB connections. Some can be powered by the computer, while others will come with an adapter that plugs into the wall. An external drive is a great place to save all your data, like music files and pictures. Doing this and running applications off the internal drive will make the computer run faster.

Having multiple hard drives is always a smart idea. Use one for backing up all of your data, another to store documents, and a main hard drive for running the computer applications.

All About Computer Hard Drives

Hard drives are an integral part of a running computer. All the data is stored on the hard drive, such as the operating system, the program files, and the commands. Personal files such as pictures, music, and documents are also stored on the hard drive.

It’s very sensitive though. Inside the hard drive is a constantly spinning disc and if this is dropped or damaged in some way it can be irreversible. If something that’s magnetic is put on it all the data can be erased.

A hard drive can have storage space of one hundred gigabytes to over a thousand, better known as a terrabyte. This all depends on the user’s preference and what they need to store. One might have a photo collection or a music collection, or be a graphic designer that needs to store large files.

Internal hard drives are stored inside the computer and mainly used as the main drive for the computer to run on. External drives are stand alone and can be easily hooked up to an existing computer by USB and used for extra storage or for backup.

After a long time hard drives can die. Some can last for years while others can burn out quite quickly. They need to be replaced every so often, so be sure to have data backed up onto another drive or on dvd or something similar.

With proper maintenance the hard drive can last longer. Defragmenting is a good way to get rid of old and unused files that are stuck on the drive. It can be done easily from the computer itself but takes a while.

They can also be reformatted, wiped of all data, to start over, but beware as this will erase any and all data you have stored on the drive.
